General Position Summary

we are looking for an experienced Merchandiser who can Work closely with buyers, retail merchandisers predict up-and-coming sales trends to ensure maximum profitability. The successful candidate will also offer customer service to our retail store owners by answering questions, tracking down lost orders, getting customers the products they need and resolving potential paperwork issues. The retail merchandising & Sales Processing Manager will perform the following responsibilities, but not limited to:

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Planning product ranges and preparing sales and stock plans in conjunction with buyers
  • Liaising with buyers, analysts, stores, suppliers and distributors
  • Maintaining a comprehensive library of appropriate data
  • Working closely with visual display staff and department heads to decide how goods should be displayed to maximize sales
  • Producing layout plans for stores, sometimes called ‘statements’
  • Forecasting profits and sales, and optimizing the sales volume and profitability of designated product areas
  • Planning budgets and presenting sales forecasts and figures for new ranges
  • Controlling stock levels based on forecasts for the season
  • To handle sales statistics, produce sales projections and present spreadsheets and graphs
  • Maintaining awareness of competitors’ performance
  • Monitoring slow sellers and taking action to reduce prices or set promotions as necessary
  • Gathering information on customers’ reactions to products
  • Meeting with suppliers and managing the distribution of stock, by negotiating cost prices, ordering stock, agreeing timescales and delivery dates and completing the necessary paperwork
  • Identifying production and supply difficulties and dealing with any problems or delays as they arise.
  • Achieves financial objectives by preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Identifies current and future customer requirements by establishing rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
  • Ensures availability of merchandise and services by approving contracts; maintaining inventories.
  • Markets merchandise by studying advertising, sales promotion, and display plans; analyzing operating and financial statements for profitability ratios.
  • Secures merchandise by implementing security systems and measures.
  • Determines marketing strategy changes by reviewing operating and financial statements and departmental sales records.
  • Maintains operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Monitor customer warehouse inventory levels and submit comprehensive inventory reports each week
  • Collaborate with customers to create attractive sales floor displays and make sure that our product is prominently displayed
  • Act as the liaison between customers and the company by addressing customer issues and solving customer problems
  • Assist customers in creating an organized warehouse that allows for easier product accessibility
  • Develop and Implement Visual Merchandising Strategy
  • Maintain Inventory Management Records
  • Analyze Sales Trends and Adjust Product Offering Accordingly
  • Develop and Maintain Vendor Relationships
  • Consult with other functions internally (Country Development Managers, Supply Chain, Finance) as well as externally (Agencies, Key Accounts & Shoppers) as necessary to gain information and insights, as well as achieve results that are aligned with company and functional objectives.
  • Align any Trade Marketing activity, point of sale and value add items to ensure best in class quality and cost effectiveness with internal/external designers and suppliers. Where applicable, coordination of legal requirements for consumer or trade promotions.
  • Utilizing planogram software to develop effective solutions for key accounts / working with all assets available and developing new programs when needed including in-store merchandisers
  • Identify category plans including range and merchandise proposals
  • Development and execution of trade / consumer promotions including pricing, sales estimates, operations liaison and POS development

Competencies, Knowledge and Experience

Undergraduate degree with minimum5 years’ experience in a Retail Merchandising & Sales Processing

BS degree in Marketing or related field is preferred but a degree in the following subjects can be accepted:

  • accountancy and finance
  • business or management
  • economics
  • IT or computer studies

 This occupation is also open to those with an HND, particularly in the following subjects:

  • mathematics or statistics
  • retail management.

Success Factors

The retail merchandising & Sales Processing Manager must be willing to travel regularly to MZIA offices and project sites.

Living Conditions / Environmental Conditions

The retail merchandising & Sales Processing Manager is based in Tunis and it requires traveling by flight or vehicle to Field offices in Tunisia or Libya.
