The company is an industrial entity present in several countries in West and Central Africa (Congo, Guinea, Mauritania, Niger, Mali), Morocco and Saudi Arabia.It operates in different sectors (Energy, Agro-industry, Cement and Mining). The headquarter is in Nouakchott, Mauritania.

Function

Responsible for all aspects of financial accounting, budgeting, treasury, tax management, and financial reporting for the company. Ensuring the drafting of the accounting and financial processes. Ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all data provided, including external and internal reporting requirements. Responsible for building and managing a team in the medium term and working efficiently and effectively within tight deadlines to provide best in class client service.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting

  • Bookkeeping
  • Ensure the implementation of accounting standards and procedures and analyse tax implications;
  • Develop fiscal strategies with tax professionals and auditors;
  • Propose new accounting software and procedures;

Financial Reporting

  • Develop the budget in accordance with strategic objectives;
  • Ensure best reporting practices: prepare monthly and quarterly results, analyse gaps between current and previous year budgets;
  • Generate quarterly management and year-end accounts for senior management, Dubai company administrators, and financial authorities in countries where the group is present;
  • Draft comments on the company’s results;
  • Prepare board pack content and coordinate board meetings;
  • Oversee the annual audited financial statements process in the countries where the group is present and at the holding level;

Treasury

  • Anticipate external financing needs in the short and medium term; develop financing plans, and approve cash budgets;
  • Monitor cash position and analyse differences between forecasted and actual figures;

Management Control

  • Determine strategic orientations of key control procedures and indicators to be set up, along with a reporting framework for the management team;
  • Establish and improve management procedures; optimize procedures for financial information flows and ensure their integrity;
  • Prepare presentations for senior management;

Banking Relationships

  • Maintain and manage relationships with current banks;
  • Develop new relationships with other financial institutions and/or lenders, as appropriate;

Subsidiaries

  • Assess local accountants, if necessary, hire new professionals and manage their training;
  • Lead the implementation of recommendations concerning accounting and financial processes and procedures at subsidiaries companies;

Information System

  • Oversee the implementation of information systems;

Internal Control

  • Work with senior management to put in place internal controls systems.

Exigences de l'emploi

Skills and Abilities

Professional individual with ability to perform independently as well as part of a management team. Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as management and organizational skills. Must possess leadership skills, and the ability to manage a team and work within a team. Self-driven and take initiative to propose improvements in accounting procedures, internal control, and reporting. Willingness to be hands on as needed. Strong work ethic. Ability to streamline processes and implement change. High level of attention to detail.

Technical Abilities

  • Accounting and financial techniques;
  • Excellent knowledge of IFRS (and SYSCOA);
  • Proficiency in IT management tools (Microsoft Office, SAGE);
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and French is required, Arabic is an important plus;

Required Qualifications

  • Master degree in accounting from a premier accounting program/business school;
  • Certified Public Accountant a strong plus;

Experience

  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience in large, private companies with international activities;
  • Experience as an accountant is required
