So, what will I actually be doing?

Your responsibilities can vary, depending on the size of the organisation and sector, and whether the focus is on selling a product, service or raising awareness of an issue that affects the public.

Your role could involve:

• Planning

• Advertising

• Promotion

• Sponsorship

• Marketing research

• Graphic Design

• Account management

• Content Writing

The finer details…

Your hours will usually be around 35 to 40 a week, Monday to Friday.

Time out of the office could involve liaising and building relationships with a range of stakeholders, e.g. customers, suppliers and colleagues; as well as the media.

As you take on more responsibilities and gain experience, you will be able to take yourcareer in marketing up to more senior positions.

Is there study involved?

As a graduate, a degree in a relevant subject such as marketing, media studies orcommunications would be advantageous.We are looking for strong personal qualities, hard working people with goodcommunication skills.Experience in a related field is useful and, in some cases, for executive positions andhigher, it’s often essential.Competition is pretty strong in this area, so getting a suitable qualification such as aEmployers may also decide to send you on a Certificate, Advanced Certificate orPostgraduate/Trainee Diploma in Marketing with the CIM.
